Description:July AL!VE Academy:   Advancing Your Volunteer Program

For programs who have established manuals and practice, how do you take your program to the next level with institutional buy-in, opportunities for increase in funding, and generally a stronger respect for volunteers.  In this seminar, you’ll learn helpful insider trips to make your program more inclusive, more inspiring, and garner more institutional respect. Additionally, some time will be used to troubleshoot very specific problems or barriers that have emerged.  Bring your questions and crowdsource some answers!

*note:  this session will run for 90 minutes.

About our presenter:

Alec Lawson is the Director of Audience Services and Access at Baltimore Center Stage in Baltimore MD and works as a consultant for all things access, front of house, inclusion, and volunteers.  He regularly presents at the Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disabilities on the intersections of ADA law, volunteerism, and disability. He teaches sensitivity trainings, offers guidance, and participates in national forums with volunteer and access coordinators.  His work is focused on challenging organizations to embrace inclusivity in the broadest terms possible, including ability, socio-economic backgrounds, language differences, gender expression, and including anyone who has been historically disincluded.
