It was great to see so many AL!VE members, Service Enterprise Hubs, and certified Service Enterprise organizations at the Points of Light conference and AL!VE/Better Impact gathering! This is the volunteer management conference presented by AL!VE, Better Impact, and VMPC (Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada). Now in its ninth year, this year's topic will focus on the quickly changing landscaping of technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI).

Nominations will open on July 1st for the AL!VE Impact Awards. Join us in recognizing the Emerging and Exemplary Leaders in our field by nominating someone by August 15th. |

How does it work?
You fill out the form on our website to nominate yourself or someone else who deserves the recognition. We will reach out to the nominees with an application and ask that it be returned no later than August 15th.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges. Winners will be announced at the AL!VE Better Impact Hybrid Conference! We will celebrate these amazing winners all year long! Who can be nominated?
Anyone who has served in the Volunteer Engagement Field for a minimum of three years and who does not currently sit on the AL!VE board (committee members can be nominated)! There are two categories of awards: Emerging Leader and Exemplary Leader. |
| What are the award categories?
Exemplary Leader - The nominee must have been involved in volunteer engagement for at least 7 years with volunteer engagement as their primary responsibility or have been significantly involved in education or research in the field of volunteer engagement.
Emerging Leader - The nominee must have been involved in volunteer engagement for 3 to 7 years with volunteer engagement as their primary responsibility and have been involved in education or research in the field of volunteer engagement. What do the winners get?
Eternal professional bragging rights! A fancy-dancy framed certificate! And, three recipients will be selected from each category and receive $500, $250, and $125, to be used for professional development. |

| July AL!VE Academy: Addressing Mental Health and Ending Stigma in the Workplace: Taking the Next Step, Moving from Awareness to Action! |

The pandemic has exacerbated mental health issues in the U.S. at an astonishing rate, with a swell of stress and anxiety that has consistently worsened since spring 2020. While there is much to be optimistic about right now, we’ll be coping with the emotional and mental fallout from COVID will continue for years to come. Now, more than ever, it’s essential to educate our employees and volunteers about mental health resources and the importance of mental health and wellness. The goal for leaders should be to promote the acceptance and inclusion of those dealing with a mental health issue by improving support systems, spreading awareness, and creating a safe environment for discussion to take place.
Learning Objectives This presentation will examine: - The impact of mental health on the workforce
- How mental health impacts every aspect of an organization
- How leaders can cultivate an environment of acceptance and inclusion to support employee and volunteer wellness and mental health
- How to cultivate supportive environments for discussion, education, and disclosure of a mental health challenges to take place
- How to utilize the three focus areas of mental health awareness, wellness, and recognition programs in your strategy
About our Presenter:
Ian Adair has spent a career building successful nonprofits. He is a three time nonprofit CEO, TEDx speaker, and recognized expert in leadership, fundraising, and nonprofit management. Ian is on a mission to change the conversation around mental health from one that condemns and diminishes those suffering to one of empathy and support. He is one of the leading voices in a movement to encourage nonprofit and corporate leaders to take bold action to support the health and wellbeing of our workforce. Ian is the author of the book, Stronger Than Stigma. A Call to Action: Stories of Grief, Loss, and Inspiration!

| Volunteer with AL!VE
Time commitment usually entails one meeting a month, with 1-2 hours working independently on a project or with a team. Volunteering with AL!VE looks great on a resume!
These Committees are seeking AL!VE members to join: Finance: Do you have skills or interest in fundraising? Help AL!VE build capacity for volunteer engagement!
AL!VE is currently looking for volunteers to join the Funding Development Committee. If you have skills in fundraising, giving plans, sponsorship development, or grant writing we would love to have you join the committee to help AL!VE build and support a strong foundation for volunteer engagement across the globe!
Membership: Membership Committee members have a 3-5 hourly commitment per month; meet monthly and work on projects independently. Tasks Include: new member calls, developing member benefits, local association mentoring & handbook/development, developing member materials, and presenting member webinars.

AL!VE members were representing at the Points of Light Conference in Chicago June 14-16.
