D. This session explores a recent study on volunteer administrators in the United States. Results show differences and similarities across volunteer administration groups. Participants will learn the top challenges facing volunteer administrators along with common management practices. Participants will also have an opportunity to reflect and share the top challenges they’re facing while examining, exploring similarities and differences across groups. The session will help administrators understand how their context may influence how they should best lead volunteers. - Explore the top challenges facing volunteer administrators today. - Find out what challenges are context specific and what challenges are universal. - Discover the most applied management practices. - Learn how “context matters” when applying management practices. About our presenter: David currently lives in Cleveland, OH. with his wife and three boys. Most nights you ![]() management while helping start two growing churches in the city. These churches work closely with local schools, police, government, and other nonprofits to address community concerns. He holds a masters in practical theology, counseling, management and leadership and has recently earned a doctorate in leadership studies. His research focuses on effective volunteer leadership. David presently works at Missional Marketing helping churches and nonprofits grow their online presence. AL!VE Academy Webinars are free for Individual, Agency and Local Association members. The general public is welcome to attend, but will be billed $25 after attending and will receive a copy of the slide deck, recording, and attendance certificate upon request. This discussion group is designed for those who can attend all sessions, not on a drop in basis and registration will close May 9. The book clubwill be facilitated by Darlene Laird, CVA, AL!VE Board Member and Skilled Volunteer Strategy and Engagement Manager for Habitat for Humanity International. The Power of Moments: Why Certain Experiences Have Extraordinary Impact by Chip Heath & Dan Heath is a book discussion COP and is open to all AL!VE ![]() The book “explores why certain brief experiences can jolt us and elevate us and change us – and how we can learn to create such extraordinary moments in our life and work.” We will reflect upon ways we can use the use the elements of defining moments to create meaningful volunteer experiences and with an eye toward our rapidly changing and more tech-dependent world. Participation in the book club offers members the following opportunities:
