September AL!VE Academy:  Creating a More Inclusive Space For Volunteers
September 28, 1 PM - 90 minutes

As volunteer engagement professionals we should be committed to removing the visible, invisible and perceived
barriers to volunteering. We should be mindful that we are including volunteers from the communities that we serve,
including persons who are black, indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), LGBTQ, and people with disabilities. Join with
colleagues interested in advancing equity in their volunteer programs for a conversation to help increase diversity,
equity and inclusion of volunteers.

Session Objectives:
Workshop participants will leave with an understanding of how to identify areas of their volunteer programs that are not inclusive.
  • Workshop participants will hear real-life examples from others about how they identified areas for improvement, developed a plan for implementation and managed both the challenges and successes they experienced.
  • Participants will be able to engage with each other to hear more examples and learn how they can implement their own inclusivity strategies and address any potential challenges.
