January AL!VE Academy: Restorative Practices as a Tool for Volunteer Program Management
Restorative practices is based on the premise that people are happier, more productive and increasingly willing to make positive changes in their lives when people do things with them, rather than to or for them. Restorative practices works proactively to create a safer social climate by strengthening relationships and building community, while holding people accountable for their choices. This workshop will explore the basic framework of restorative practices, how to incorporate the ideals into the decision making process and ways to integrate restorative practices trauma informed approaches to create a community of care.

Happy New Year! I am honored to be your Board President for 2024 and am excited for what the year holds for AL!VE! We had incredible growth and accomplishments last year, which you can review by watching the recording of the 2023 Annual Meeting. This year will be just as promising, with a board of nineteen highly skilled and experienced professionals, working for our membership and profession in a variety of ways.
Highlights of the upcoming year include the publication of our 2023 Annual Report, 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, and the results of the Career Pathways Survey. We will also be advocating for the inclusion of Volunteer Engagement Professionals in the DOL (Department of Labor) Occupational Handbook. In addition, we will be revisiting and reworking the AL!VE DEAI statement on our website to acknowledge that DEAI is a journey that we are currently on together. Thank you for being an AL!VE member, for your work in volunteer engagement and your continued support as we head into 2024. Cheers! Cathy |
