This is the volunteer management conference presented by AL!VE, Better Impact, and VMPC (Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada).  Now in its tenth year, this year's topic will focus on
how a Volunteer Engagement Professional can have management level influence in their organization.

Our speakers have already been hard at work collaborating and "creating their influence", and have structured the day for each of the sessions to build on what comes before it. There will be some engaging activities throughout the day built into the program, and at the end of the conference, attendees will come away with actionable tips they can use the very next day to build their own professional influence.

Our current streaming event will be held via Zoom and will consist of four 25 minute presentations, small group discussions followed by a moderated discussion with the other presenters (think Ted talk meets late night tv), including responding to questions from the audience.  There are two 15 minute breaks and one 45 minute lunch break.

  • The broadcast will be streamed live in the United States and Canada, with the likelihood of an audience of 1000 or more via the Host Sites and individual registrants.
  • You can expect to be with 50-75 Volunteer Engagement Professionals across the US & Canada.
  • In order to participate, you will need an internet connection strong enough to handle audio/video streaming on the Zoom platform and adequate computer or external speakers.
  • Sessions are not recorded.
  • Payment must be received by October 20 (electronically) or October 15 (if by check)

You can learn more about the conference by visiting the main conference website.

The T.A.B.L.E.": Obstacle or Opportunity?"
This session will help you identify how you view the "table" so that you can utilize it as a catalyst to create influence at your organization. We will explore each letter of the T.A.B.L.E. acronym and how each letter is integral in optimizing impact not only within your organization, but your community on a whole.

Nicole, a Panamanian-American, excels as a social impact leader, author, motivational speaker, blogger, podcaster, and dancer.

Sarah Sukhram, CVA "
Vibe Check: What’s Their Why? Learn Your Audience to Influence through Insight!"
Influence is Action. So go for it! In this session, we'll learn about those you are looking to influence. What is the "why" of your audience? Their priorities? What are they telling you without saying? We'll follow a case study from Sarah on her journey & the lessons learned along the way.  Volunteer leaders wear many hats, so let's tap into those skills we already have. Influence through insight. You'll take away actionable steps for the next time you're looking to advocate for you, your profession, your volunteers & beyond. We'll also sprinkle some interactive fun throughout because that's who we are in volunteer management. So let's go for it!

Sarah Sukhram, Pasco County Animal Services' Volunteer & Foster Care Coordinator. Recognized for her leadership and dedication, Sarah received the 2023 Emerging Leaders award and was named Pasco County's Employee of the Year.

Outside work, she enjoys fostering kittens and training for her first marathon.

Adam Janes, CVA "Who am I to Have Influence?"

Who am I to have influence is a reflective introspection exploring what enables us to journey toward and into having influence in our communities.

Utilizing curiosity, creativity and care as lenses we look at our origins, our journey and through our values, character and skills; resulting in gaining insights, equipping ourselves and growing our passion.

We look to key questions such as: How do we look at ourselves, align our uniqueness and best ready ourselves for the challenges and opportunities ahead?

As the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources at Ottawa Food Bank, Adam helps people invest their time and talent into alleviating and eliminating hunger and food insecurity in Ottawa.

Adam has almost 20 years of experience leading, directing, and coordinating programs and events in the not-for-profit sector, seven focusing on volunteer engagement and program evaluation. He holds the Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) credential and several certifications in healthy childhood development and workshop facilitation.

Tracey O'Neill, CVA "
From Seat to Sway: Building Blocks to Manifest your Organisational Influence"
When we think of having influence, we often refer to the much-used metaphor of having a seat at the table. But for many of us in volunteer engagement we aren’t offered a seat, we have no opportunity to bring our own seat, we need a different table, or there isn’t even a table to start with!
But what if we didn’t need the table? What if we crafted our own web of connections that help our influence to grow? What if we were able to see that we already have all the building blocks we need to create impact that leads to positive change?
This presentation will explore some key strategies for how to gradually build influence starting exactly where you’re at. We’ll look at ways to safely practice visible and loud acts of advocacy, and some of the more quiet and discreet ways that you can influence others to build on the momentum you generate.

With over 20 years of leadership in volunteer engagement across not-for-profit, health, and government sectors, Australian social worker and Certified Volunteer Administrator Tracey champions transformative and ethical volunteer management while fostering advanced leadership in the sector.
