Education & Reading Programs Community of Practice is a group of professionals with the interest of improving reading levels for youth and adults. We convene bimonthly to offer support, share best practices, provide a safe space for discussion, and networking.

Growing Your Volunteer Leader Team
This interactive session focuses on volunteer empowerment: giving existing volunteer leaders the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully encourage more volunteers within their nonprofit organisation to take on leadership roles. The session is also highly useful for staff within nonprofit organisations who are looking to recruit volunteer leaders, or anyone who just wants to learn more about leadership within volunteering.
About our presenter:
Nicola Lake has extensive experience both working and volunteering in the nonprofit sector, leading on volunteer management and developing training initiatives at a variety of organisations - including the British Red Cross, FoodCycle, and The Royal Photographic Society. 
Inspired to help address the needs and challenges of diverse nonprofit organisations, Nicola is currently a Vision for Volunteering Champion and offers a wide range of practical resources and bespoke consultation services via her own company, Resourcevol. Specialising in volunteer recruitment, training, resource design, and process optimisation, Nicola is dedicated to empowering volunteers and helping nonprofits achieve their aims.
AL!VE Academy Webinars are free for Individual, Agency and Local Association members. The general public is welcome to attend, but will be billed $25 after attending and will receive a copy of the slide deck, recording, and attendance certificate upon request. This COP is for those leading volunteerism within the field of disability. Our conversations are aimed at prioritizing issues aimed at improving the lives and rights of those disabled. It’s at the heart of why we do what we do.
Each month, we'll host different topics and perhaps guest speakers tailoring this COP to meet our needs. Join us!

Mark has led volunteers for more than 20 years in the areas of cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and homelessness. prior to choosing volunteerism as his career, Mark taught Special Education for those who are disable or differently abled. In his current role, he is able to do both! His role was created to build a volunteer program with serve those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in an agency setting.

This virtual Community of Practice supports volunteer engagement professionals managing programs in and across rural communities. These monthly peer-to-peer sessions address some of the challenges that come with operating in geographic areas with lower population numbers and that are located outside of more suburban and urban areas. Members use these sessions to troubleshoot issues, to give and receive support, and to share strategies, best practices, and resources for effective volunteer program management.
