Portland State University Offers Online Volunteer Classes
Portland State University offers two fully online classes, Recruiting Volunteers and Training Volunteers, beginning in January 2012. Experienced managers of volunteer programs have the opportunity to "tune-up" existing elements of their programs. Beginning managers of volunteers learn the elements of operating the most efficient and effective volunteer programs.

Complete all five courses in the series to receive a professional development certificate from PSU's Institute for Nonprofit Management of the School of Public Administration.

Metropolitan Volunteer Management Association

MVMA is a professional organization that promotes and enhances the field of volunteer management for its members and metropolitan St. Louis.

Description:
MVMA is a professional organization comprised of professionals who are employed in the field of volunteer management. Our membership is diverse and rich in information regarding all aspects volunteer program administration. We meet each month to discuss topics pertinent to our field and to share our experiences and expertise. Membership in MVMA ensures that members have access to tools and resources that enable them to successfully and proudly wear the many hats associated with their field: recruitment, retention, communication, budgeting, event management, public relations, training and technology utilization, to name only a few. MVMA members are well-equipped to lead their agencies and communities in the call to service and community enhancement.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN for 2012 Professional Credentialing
Individuals seeking to earn the CVA (Certified in Volunteer Administration) credential in 2012 may now register. This unique, international, competency-based program recognizes practitioners with at least 3 years of experience in the field of volunteer resources management. Originally developed decades ago by the Association for Volunteer Administration, the CVA program is now sponsored by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration.

Registration for the next cycle will remain open until March 1, 2012. (Register by December 31 and save money with the special Early Bird discount!) Candidates registering for this cycle will be expected to take the on-line Exam at local sites in May 2012, and will have until December 2012 to complete the written Portfolio component. This is a self-study process, requiring no travel or special classes.
