We all encounter ethical dilemmas in our daily work with and for community, but rarely do organizations focus on ethics related to volunteer engagement. This session provides an opportunity for practitioners to understand the difference between personal, organizational and professional ethics. The core values and principles identified by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA) will be shared. Participants will learn a process for ethical decision-making that can be applied in any situation, and then practice this using real-life scenarios related to volunteers. Finally, several specific strategies will be offered for increasing awareness of ethics within an organization and helping both volunteers and staff become more effective at handling ethical dilemmas. Hosted by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA). For more information, visit https://www.cvacert.org.

September AL!VE Academy:  Bridging Generational Communication Gaps in the Nonprofit Workplace

September 23, 2:00 P for 60 minutes

Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z: there are four generations in today's nonprofit workforce, and with such wildly varying communication styles and preferences in play, miscommunication is virtually inevitable - or is it? This workshop focuses on ways to address or eliminate common sources of friction, leverage the communication strengths of each generation, and set up your multigenerational team for healthier, more effective communication.

About our presenter:
Kate's odyssey in nonprofit communications and marketing spans over a decade, evolving from a dedicated volunteer and board member to a committed staff member. She ventured into contract and freelance work along the way, ultimately circling back as a full-time staff member and part-time consultant focused on remedying communication breakdowns and cultural toxicity, as well as providing high-quality, affordable marketing for small nonprofits. She has worked with dozens of nonprofit organizations and causes, from healthcare and tourism to child welfare and animal rescue.

Kate is a NANOE Certified Nonprofit Consultant and holds a BA in International Studies, an MA in Global Communication, and a professional Certificate of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

AL!VE Academy Webinars on any DEAI topic are free for everyone. The general public is welcome to attend, and will receive a copy of the slide deck, recording, and attendance certificate upon request. The webinar recording will be on our home page under 'About Us' / Committment to Community tab.

National Networks COP:
Those working at a national level face different issues than those operating on a local or regional level. Often national level leaders are engaged in big picture, strategic or policy decision-making. Sometimes those operating at a national level don’t work directly with volunteers, but rather help empower others in their organizations who do. Join the discussion to connect and learn from others working nationally. We invite anyone looking to brainstorm around the unique issues facing volunteer leaders on a national level.  This COP group will be a chance to network, share expertise, ask questions, and solve problems with your peers.

*note* When you register, you will be automatically be registered for all the future COP dates (listed below) and monthly reminders will be sent - the COP will use the same zoom link.
