Take the next step in your career as a leader of volunteers and become certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA).

Leaders in non-profit organizations and community groups increasingly understand that volunteers can be a critical resource for delivering on a mission. Effective people management and community engagement is imperative – whether they be paid or unpaid. As a result, employers expect that those individuals tasked with mobilizing and coordinating volunteer engagement demonstrate a thorough knowledge of effective practices and an understanding of how to apply that knowledge in support of real-world organizational priorities.

September AL!VE Academy:  Recruitment Isn't The Answer
Presented by Rob Jackson

Everyone knows recruitment can be tricky now, post lockdowns etc.. But the answer isn’t simply trying harder to recruit. We need better, more flexible, opportunities that fit with people’s interests, motivations and availabilities. We need a culture in our organisations that welcomes and nurtures the potential of volunteers, not one that seems them as being nice but not essential. This isn’t just down to the Volunteer Engagement Professional - everyone needs to embrace it.
In short we need a sea change in our organisations.
This session will explore what needs to happen and how we as leaders can get the ball rolling.

About our presenter:

Rob Jackson is Director of Rob Jackson Consulting Ltd, a consultancy and training company that helps engage and inspire people to bring about change.
Rob has almost 30 years experience working in the voluntary and community sector, holding a variety of strategic development and senior management roles that have focused on leading and engaging volunteers.
Rob has run his company since 2011 working with a wide range of clients in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the USA and Canada.
Rob is co-author of The Complete Volunteer Management Handbook (DSC, 2012 and 2019) and From The Top Down - UK Edition (Energize Inc., 2015).

AL!VE Academy Webinars are free for Individual, Agency and Local Association members. The general public is welcome to attend, but will be billed $25 after attending and will receive a copy of the slide deck, recording, and attendance certificate upon request. If you registered as a Local association member, please be sure you have listed your local association's acronym or name in the registration. Learn more about AL!VE membership here.

State Service Commissions – a Partner for Leaders of Volunteers with Alli Zuel, CVA
Did you know that in the United States there is a federally-mandated organization dedicated to service and volunteerism in almost every state and several territories? State and territorial service commissions are the state-level partners of AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism. Service commissions are responsible for not only the administration of AmeriCorps funding in states/territories but also for promoting service and volunteerism. During this webinar, we’ll discuss the variety of ways service commissions are supporting and advancing service and potential avenues of collaboration for leaders of volunteers.

Alli Zuel, CVA formally jumped into the volunteer engagement field in 2015 after being involved with service from a young age. She works as the Volunteer Engagement Manager at America’s Service Commissions (ASC). In her day-to-day work, she has the pleasure of working with so many fabulous fellow CVAs and #LoVols. Alli is a proud AmeriCorps alum and loves seeing how service and volunteerism can create change in communities.
